Lynn & Carol Newman

Lynn & Carol (Durst) Newman, were married in 1984. They were both born in Meyersdale, PA, and raised in Grantsville, MD. In 1991, they purchased the funeral home properties from Lynn’s parents, Don & Ruth Newman.

Lynn graduated from Community College of Baltimore County, Catonsville in 1975, with an Associate Degree in Mortuary Science. He has been involved in various civic and state organizations including Hospice of Garrett County, Garrett County Social Services Board, Garrett College Foundation Board, past president of Northern Garrett County Rescue Squad, Past Master of Mountain Lodge #99, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons & Past Patron of Mountain Chapter #15, Order of the Eastern Star, past president of the Maryland Board of Morticians & Funeral Directors. Currently serving as Grand Organist for the Grand Lodge of Maryland, A.F. & A. M. Lynn is a licensed funeral director in Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

Carol became office manager in 1985 of Newman’s. She is a certified phlebotomist, having received her certification from Allegany College of Maryland. Carol has also served the community as a board member of the Ruth Enlow Library, and The Dove Center as well as past EMT with the Northern Garrett Rescue Squad. She is a Past Matron of Mountain Chapter #15, Order of the Eastern Star and is currently serving as the Grand Conductress for the Grand Chapter of Maryland, O.E. S.

They are the proud parents of three sons, Geoffrey & wife, Katrina, Aaron & Cameron.
