Obituary

Thelma Rae Savage, 79, of McHenry, MD, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020, at her residence.

Born January 2, 1941, at Swallow Falls, she was the daughter of the late Ward Edward and Geraldine Alma (DeWitt) Savage. She was also preceded in death by and infant sister, Ruth Ann Savage; a brother, John Edward Savage, Sr and a brother-in-law, Terrell C. Frazee.

During her life she worked at several businesses in McHenry, Bill and Gay’s Market, Point View Inn and Wisp Resort. She also worked in Oakland at the 5 & 10, HP Warehouse and NuWay Cleaners. She enjoyed living on the family farm. She spent her lifetime there. Thelma loved her family and got very excited every time there was a new niece or nephew. She loved them all and they loved her as well.

She is survived by two brothers, Thomas Lester Savage (Sandra Kay) and Billy Ward Savage (Adelaide Lee), all of McHenry; a sister, Betty Fay Frazee, Friendsville; a sister-in-law, Trudy Kay (Mosser) Savage, McHenry; a nephew, John Savage, Jr. (Colette), McHenry; two nieces, Scheree Kirk (Doug), Brunswick, ME; Melinda Frazee Grove (Joshua), Akron, OH; three step-nephews, Rodney Terrell Frazee (Mary), Martinsburg, WV; Guy Paul Beitzel, McHenry; Zachary Miles Beitzel, College Park, MD; great-nieces and nephews, Ward Savage (Melanee) and Jacob Savage (Melanie), all of McHenry; Ashlee Parsons (David), Cross Lanes, WV; Evan John Kirk, US Navy; Eric James Kirk, Bath, ME; Katherine E. Grove and Jackson Ward Grove, all of Akron, OH; twins, Salem and Clover Hull; Oreana Sharpless; great-great niece and nephews, Robinson Joseph Savage; Eleanor Kay Lynn Savage; Chauncy James Savage (on the way).

At Thelma’s request she will be cremated. Her family will hold a private committal service at a later time. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD, is in charge of her arrangements.
