Robert Merle “Chip” Gindlesberger, 64, of Oakland, MD, passed away of sudden illness on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born June 19, 1956, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Doris Marie (Royal) Gindlesberger and the late William Merle Gindlesberger.
Chip was a well-known roofer of Garrett County for many years. He worked for One-CCK, LLC since 2005, where he maintained the Garrett County Department of Social Services building. He took pride in his job and his “social services family”. Chip loved his family and enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates games, golfing, and hunting. Many will remember his love for his Chesapeake Bay retriever Odie, or as he would call him “bonehead”. Chip was a member of the Oakland Elks Lodge and Deer Park Sportsmen’s Club.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann (Teets) Gindlesberger; one daughter, Katie (Gindlesberger) Ferrara and husband, Costa of Reston VA; one son, Bill Gindlesberger of Oakland; two sisters, Gayle Larcinese and husband, Denny of Pittsburgh; Doreen Kendo and husband, Len of Pittsburgh; one brother, Dave Gindlesberger and wife, Torrie of Deltona, FL; his mother-in-law, Delores June Sisler of Friendsville; two brothers-in-law, Gregory Sisler and companion, Joan of Friendsville; Shawn Sisler and wife, Kelli of Oakland; two sisters-in-law, Vickie Powell and husband, Steve of Morgantown; Yvonne Sisler and husband, Marc of Vienna VA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland on Thursday, October 8, 2020, from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, October 9, 2020, at 11 am with the Revered Dr. Matthew Paugh officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Ford Cemetery, Oakland.
