Robert Elmer Beachy, 86, of Oakland, died Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born February 22, 1934, in Grantsville, MD, he was the son of the late Ellsworth Otto and Martha Marie (Baum) Beachy. He was also preceded in death by one son, Barry Ellsworth Beachy and one brother, Dave Olen Beachy.
Bob worked as a delivery man for Fike’s Dairy for thirty-seven years. He was a member of Pine Grove Church of the Brethren where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Woodmen of the World. Bob loved working outside and was a farmer at heart. He raised pigs, cattle, and field corn and, after his retirement, would help other farmers. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of his eye.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Marie Beachy; two sons, Thomas Leon Beachy and girlfriend, Christy, Tunnelton, WV; Michael John Beachy and Sophie, Oakland; two daughters, Sharon Marie Dick and husband, Randy, Oakland; Tammy Sue Bassford and husband, Roy, Oakland; two sisters, Kathleen Yommer and husband, Neil, Grantsville; Beverly Wagner and husband, Donald, York, SC; eleven grandchildren, Amy; Donnelle; Cortney; Jay; Ashley; Bobbi Jo; Jenessa; Taylor; Jenna Sue; Claire; Samantha; twenty great-grandchildren.
Pall bearers will be Tom Gravely, John Sines, Norman Lewis, Kenny Carr, Nick Stonesifer, Lloyd “Butch” Rounds, and Gary “Pete” Savage.
Due to the limited number of people allowed to gather following the executive order by the State of Maryland, services will be private. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date after the restrictions have been lifted.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Garrett County for their excellent care of Bob and also all the friends who visited, called and sent cards during Bob’s illness.
