Nancy Janet Williams, 90, of Accident, MD, died Monday, March 23, 2020, at Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Oakland, MD.
Born March 3, 1930, in Portsmouth, VA, she was the daughter of the late James and Catherine (Meehan) Gardner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Raymond C. Williams.
Nancy and her mother moved to Washington, DC after the passing of her father. They lived across the street from her future high school sweetheart and husband. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1949 and married Raymond on September 6 of that year. In 1955, their young family moved to Clinton, MD, where they lived for 60 years. She worked for many years as a cafeteria worker for Prince George’s County Public Schools, where she took great pride in her work and “her dishroom” was her domain. In her retirement years, she enjoyed camping, church activities, and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she treasured. She loved Garrett County and Deep Creek Lake which she called “the best place in the world.” She moved there in 2016. Her life was one of putting others before herself and providing unwavering support for her family in good times and bad. She spent her final years receiving excellent care at Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers for their love and support in enriching Mom’s final years.
She is survived by three sons, Ray Williams and wife, Laurie, Clinton; Tim Williams, Waldorf; Will Williams and wife, Wrenn, Accident; three grandchildren, Tracy Lenhardt and husband, Jason; Jaime Panchura and husband, Mark; Pearl Vickers and husband, Alex; four great-grandchildren, Piper Lenhardt; Wylder Lenhardt; Charlotte Vickers; Annabelle Vickers.
Nancy will be cremated and services will be held at a later date.
