Macy Ann Dawson, 19, of Oakland, MD died Sunday, March 22, 2020, as the result of a UTV accident.
Born September 4, 2000, in Toledo, OH, she was the daughter of Christy Ann (DeWitt) Getson and Scott Matthew Dawson. She was preceded in death by her baby girl, Presley Ann Malcolm.
Macy worked at HART for animals as an animal care attendant in their adoption wing and a Kennel Tech in their “bed and bark”. Her goal was to some day work in a zoo or anything with animals and she loved all animals. Macy had a passion for soccer and was a great soccer player. She quit participating in cheerleading in order to play soccer. Even though she seemed tough on the outside, she was soft and sentimental on the inside and loved traditions and spending time with family and friends. She was a sweet and loving person.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her stepfather, CJ Getson, Oakland; maternal grandparents, Barbara Bailey, Grafton, WV; Timothy DeWitt and wife, Connie L., Oakland; paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Linda Dawson, Oakland; one sister, Peyton Marie Dawson, Oakland; her boyfriend, Matthew Georg, Oakland.
Macy will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland are in charge of cremation arrangements.
