George Joseph Brodak, 78, of Oakland, MD, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at his home.
Born August 15, 1941, in Carmichaels PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Valeria (Batis) Brodak. He was also preceded in death by a son, George Brodak, Jr.; three brothers, Joseph, Edward, and John Brodak.
At a young age, George began working in his parent’s grocery store and also acquired his pilot’s license and became a crop duster in Florida. He purchased property in Oakland, and began building his dreams. George was the founder of many businesses; Brodak Super Dollar, Brodak Mobile Home Park, Brodak Discount Liquors, Brodak Private Mt. Lake Resort, Brodak’s Video Showcase, Brodak’s Hobby Shop, and the Aquarium Lounge. George had much pride in all his accomplishments, even though he did not have a high school diploma. He was a self-taught pilot, carpenter, heavy equipment operator, electrician, and played a part of the building of all his many businesses. George served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962, and was a member of the Proctor-Kildow American Legion Post 71, Elks Lodge 2481, and the VFW Post 10077. George loved spending time with his family, riding his Harley, snowmobiling, and building control line model airplanes. George will be remembered as a very strong-willed and determined person.
George is survived by one daughter, Christine R. Valeriann; one son, Anthony Brodak; two grandchildren, Ivan A. and Jadelin G. Brodak.
Due to the limited number of people allowed following the executive order by the State of Maryland, services will be private.
