Anita Jean “Skeet” (DeWitt) Brobst, 90 years old, died Friday, June 26, 2020 at her son's home in Finzel, MD.
Born December 3, 1929, in Accident, MD, she was the daughter of the late Whitfield & Mary Anita (Gillespie) DeWitt. Mrs. Brobst was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Louis Brobst, on March 3, 2012; two brothers, Charles DeWitt & Harold DeWitt and one sister, Willarlie Houser.
Once Tom and Anita began building their family, Skeet devoted her life to raising four very rambunctious children. She was the core of her family and was well-known for her poetry, journaling, and delicious cookie-baking skills. Anita was a devout Christian and a member of Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren in Grantsville, MD.
Surviving are three sons, Eric Thomas (Beth Anne) Brobst, New Bern, NC, Jesse Frank (Rebekah) Brobst, Oakland, MD, John Riedemann (Michelle) Brobst, Finzel, MD; one daughter, Amy Anita Kemp, Asheville, NC; 13 grandchildren, Everett B. Weimer, III, Nikolas Kemp, Melanie Kemp, Hannah Brobst, Natasha DeSantis, Uriah, Danielle, Benjamin, Curtis, Lily Brobst, Rachel, Emily & Joshua Brobst; two great-grandsons, Braydon & Talon Weimer.
Per Anita’s wishes, she will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 2:00pm with Pastor Rodney Durst and Pastor Dennis Durst officiating.
Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, MD, is assisting the family with arrangements.
