Walter Reed "Dave" Butler

June 13, 1935 ~ January 30, 2018 (age 82)

Walter Reed “Dave” Butler, 82, of Grantsville, MD, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at WMHS Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, MD.

Born June 13, 1935, in Grantsville, he was the son of the late Wilson and Gladys (Meyers) Butler. He was also preceded in death by one son, Richard Lee Butler; two brothers, Blaine and Berman Butler; one sister, Vida Butler.

Mr. Butler worked for Harbison-Walker Refractories retiring in 1999 after 35 years of service. In his younger years he was an avid fisherman and in 1964, helped in the recovery of the B-52 Bomber in New Germany.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Ruth (Broadwater) Butler; two sons, Jay (Lori) Butler and William David (Kristina) Butler, all of Grantsville; four daughters, Rita (Steve) Bender, Karen McClintock and Connie (Scott) Cameron, all of Grantsville; Carla (Owen) Dolan, Accident, MD; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. Services will follow in the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Joe Byler officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Beulah Cemetery.
