Troy Lewis Smearman, 90, of Friendsville, MD, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland, MD.
Born February 20, 1929, in Accident, MD, he was the son of the late Henry L. and Scyntha A. (Frazee) Smearman. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd, Floyd C. and Albert W. Smearman; two sisters-in-law, Jean and Matilda Smearman.
Troy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Addison, PA. He was a farmer most of his life and due to lack of eyesight he retired as the caretaker of Addison Cemetery, after 29 years. Troy was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, having served in Japan.
He is survived by a sister, Helen S. Hoover and husband, James, Cumberland, MD; two brothers, Ralph H. Smearman and wife, Roberta, Eastlake, OH and Reed W. Smearman, Rome, OH; a daughter, Tina Rockwell, Markleysburg, PA; sister-in-law, Doris W. Smearman, Dover, OH; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Devlin Manor Nursing Home for the good care Troy received, also David and Charlotte Smearman and special friend, Owen Frantz for assisting Helen with his care.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave., Friendsville, MD, on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, from 12:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. Services will follow in the funeral home with Pastor Glenn Foster officiating at 2:00 p.m.. Interment will be in Addison Cemetery, Addison, PA. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion.
