Stanley Francis Mersing

June 27, 1949 ~ April 4, 2018 (age 68)

Stanley Francis Mersing, 69, of Oakland, MD, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland.

Born June 27, 1949 in Crellin, MD, he was the son of the late Clyde and Dorothy Frances (Johnson) Mersing. Stanley was blessed to have two families, his biological family and his uncle and aunt that raised him after his mother died when he was six months old; the late Elmer L. and Lillian (Ashby) Mersing. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Clyde Dwaine Mersing; Ervin Benjamin Mersing; John E. Mersing; Elmer Alvin Mersing; three sisters, Peggy Ann (Kelly) Mersing; Nola (Mersing) Anderson; Mary Susan (Mersing) Scott; and one granddaughter, Sakura Mersing.

Stanley was employed by Glotfelty Lumber Company as a truck driver. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Irene (Foster) Mersing; two sons, Robert Christopher Mersing and wife, Aloha “Cherry” Mersing, South Korea; Nathan Daniel Mersing and wife, Amanda L. (Ashby) Mersing, Oakland; three brothers, Keith Mersing and wife, Donna, Clarksville, TN; Charles Mersing and wife, Janice, Terra Alta, WV; Donald Mersing and wife, Leanna (Tasker) Mersing, Woodbridge, VA; four sisters, Janice L. Mills and husband, Marvin, Tallmadge, OH; Clara Lockhart, Terra Alta; Carolyn Gibson and huband, Hansel, Bruceton Mills, WV; Kay Royce and husband, Cecil, Terra Alta; three grandsons, Kevin Michael Mersing, Okinawa; Brandon Daniel Mersing and Christopher Ryan Mersing, both of Oakland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Mountaintop Christian Assembly of God Church, 2655 Maryland Highway, Oakland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Services will be conducted in the church on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Cyndi Tichnell officiating. Interment will be in the Ashby Cemetery, Crellin.
