Robert Loye Wilt

February 7, 1938 ~ August 12, 2019 (age 81)

Robert Loye Wilt, 81, of Grantsville, MD, left this realm, Monday, August 12th to join his family and friends on the other side of the veil.

Born February 7, 1938, he was the son of the late, Ray and Gladys (Palmer) Wilt. He was also preceded in death by his son, Eric Loye Wilt; his fur baby, Bobby Joe Wilt; father in-law, Stanley Wm. Finzel and his brothers, sisters, and their spouses, Francis (Chester) Green, Raymond (Bonnie) Wilt, Hattie “Pat” (Swifty) Housel, Claire (Nook) Wilt, Phyllis (Jim) Donahue, Willard “Jake” (Joann) Wilt, and Butch (Carol) Wilt; and his brother and sister in-law, Gary and Phyllis (Friend) Finzel. He was the last of the Ray & Gladys Wilt clan to depart.

Rob was a mechanic and body man for Casselman Chevrolet, and Harding Pontiac, in the earlier years before working with Finzel Coal Co. as a heavy duty equipment mechanic and operator as well as being the job Foreman, and finishing up his working years before retirement with Allegheny Shovel & Drag.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, who loved nature in any form. Rob loved playing softball and baseball and was a NY Yankee die hard. He loved his family and friends, of which he had many.

Surviving is his spouse, Sheila (Finzel) Wilt; his two sons, Robbie (Angie) Wilt and Joe (Maronda) Wilt; mother in-law, Violet (Morozek) Finzel; sister in-law, Juanita Wilt; grandsons, Malcolm (Shaunna) Simmons, Nate Simmons, Devin Wilt, and Bryson Wilt; one granddaughter, Shayla Warnick; and five great-grandchildren. He has many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

At his request he is being cremated and a graveside service will follow at a later date, which will be published for anyone who would like to join in bidding his farewell. He will be sadly missed and loved by all as he is running free once again.
