Robert Lee Lewis, Sr., 77, of Oakland, MD, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at his home,
Born January 27, 1942, in Turner Douglass, WV, he was the son of the late Chester and Edith Lewis. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Gil Lewis; one sister, Marty Lewis.
Robert was a coal miner. He also worked as a transporter and mail carrier for the Oakland Post Office, and part time at the Garrett County Department of Solid Waste and Recycling. Robert loved the outdoors and his horses. He was a jack of all trades, who could tinker with anything and get it going. Robert was a man who would drop anything to help someone else.
Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Ann (Holtschneider) Lewis; one son, Robert Lee Lewis, Jr. and wife, Pam, Moorefield, WV; one daughter, Brandi Sisler and husband, Daniel, Terra Alta, WV; four grandchildren, Corey and Karla McKenzie; Tiffini and Charlie Sisler; great grandson, Keaton McKenzie; one brother, Foster Lewis and wife, LaDonna; two sisters, Mable Jones; Linda Nair and husband, PeeWee; numerous nephews and nieces.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD, 21550, on Wednesday, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend William C. Skipper officiating. Interment will be at the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
