Laura Aldora (Werdebaugh) Friend

August 21, 1930 ~ March 28, 2018 (age 87)

Laura A. Friend, 87, went to be with her Savior, Jesus, on March 28, 2018, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland, MD.

Born August 21, 1930 in Hancock, MD, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Mary (Bathalow) Werdebaugh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Delbert R. “Pap” Friend; grandchildren, Courtnay Tasker and Paul Friend and several brothers and sisters.

Laura retired from the former Garrett County Memorial Hospital where she was employed for over 20 years as a housekeeper. She attended Rocky Drean Assembly of God Church and faithfully supported it for many decades.

She is survived by her son, Allen R. Friend and wife, Penny, Oakland; two daughters, Norma J. Rodeheaver and husband, Bill, Oakland; Mona L. Metz and husband, Ron, Mountain Lake Park; four grandsons and their families, James A. Tasker, Mount Savage, MD; Jerry Tasker and Mike Friend, both of Oakland; Josh Rodeheaver, Mountain Lake Park; three brothers, Harry, Dave and Ronnie Werdebaugh; one sister, Linda White; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bill Skipper officiating. Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
