Karl Wilhelm Westmeier, 78, of Grantsville, MD, died Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Forbes State Forest, Salisbury, PA.

Born July 11, 1939, in Flechtdorf, Germany, he was the son of the late Karl Luis and Emma (Pöttner) Westmeier.

Mr. Westmeier was Missionary and a Professor of Missions for the Christian Missionary Alliance. He was a member of the Oak Dale Church, Salisbury and of the Casselman Historical Society.

Karl held degrees from the Bibelschule und Bibelheim, Beatenberg, Switzerland, Alliance Theological Seminary, Nyack, NY and University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland.

He had 5 books published on history and missions, including the book for the 100th anniversary of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Puerto Rico.

He is survived by his wife, Arline (Maust) Westmeier; one son, David (Yeins) Westmeier, Long Island, NY; one daughter, Ruthie Westmeier, New York City, NY; three brothers, Ehrhardt (Dorle) Westmeier, Horst Westmeier and Kurt (Ingrid) Westmeier, all of Waldeck, Germany; two grandsons, Benjamin David and Matthew Jacob.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Oak Dale Church on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joe Byler officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Oak Dale Cemetery.
