John Albert Hutzell, 70, of Salisbury, PA, moved into his mansion in glory on April 18, 2019.
He passed away at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, from acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Born November 22, 1948, in Meyersdale, PA, he was the son of the late Ray Elmer and Violet (Hochard) Hutzell. He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Jon and his sister, Judith Platter.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, best friend, and caregiver, Sandra (Wengerd) Hutzell; sons, Brandon Hutzell and wife, Carol (Tressler), Grantsville, MD and Travis Hutzell and wife, Chelsea (Bassett), Summerhill, PA; brother, Ray E. Hutzell, Jr. and wife, Judy, Doylestown, OH; sisters, Shirley Arnold, Meyersdale, Peggy Platter, Grantsville, and Robin Hutzell, Cumberland, MD; grandchildren, Lucas, Eden, Noah, Logan, and Emma Hutzell, and numerous nieces and nephews.
John retired after 31 years of service for Salisbury Borough in 2016.
He attended Crossroads Church, Oakland, MD.
He was a four-year liver transplant survivor.
John never met a stranger and over the course of his lifetime, touched and changed the lives of everyone he knew. He loved his children and grandchildren and was happiest when he could spend time with them.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Highway, Salisbury, on Sunday, April 21, 2019, from 3-5 & 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday, April 22, 2019, at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Randy Brant officiating. Interment will be in Salisbury Cemetery.
