James Martin Hershman, 56, of Swanton, MD, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019, as the result of an automobile accident.
Born December 16, 1962, in Oakland, MD, he was the son of the late Everett Junior and Arletha Jane (Faulkner) Hershman.
Jim worked as a mechanic for J&J Ford. He loved spending time with his brother Bob, especially when they worked on his race car. Jim was a fun and outgoing person; he would help anyone and never met a stranger. He enjoyed watching his favorite football teams the Pittsburgh Steelers and the WVU Mountaineers and professional wrestling. Most importantly he loved his family and his dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (Hurst) Hershman; two sons, Devin Hershman and fiancée, Abby Clovis, Bruceton Mills, WV; James Hershman, Morgantown, WV; a step-daughter, Michele Fillmore and husband, Ben, Pasadena, MD; two brothers, Robert Hershman, and wife, Renita, Swanton; Mark Hershman and wife, LaDonna, Rowlesburg, WV; two sisters, Debra Martin and husband, Tom, Rowlesburg; Arlene Sanders and husband, Scott, Tunnelton, WV; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD, on Friday, November 22, 2019, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Samuel Moon officiating. Interment will be in Blooming Rose Cemetery, Friendsville, MD.
