Hazel Maxine (Sisler) Teagarden, 89, of Oakland, MD, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas, WV.
Born October 31, 1928, in Crellin, MD, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Seymour “Rowd” and Afle (Dumire) Sisler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Maitland Teagarden, Sr.; one brother, Alvin E. Sisler; a nephew, Randy Sisler.
Hazel was a 1946 graduate of Oakland High School. She worked in retail at Heck’s department store and was a member of the Meadow Glade Homemakers Club. Hazel was a member of the Oak Park Church of the Brethren and attended regularly at the Mary Browning Senior Center.
She is survived by one son, Donald M. Teagarden, Jr., Oakland, MD; two daughters, Judy E. Miller (Curt), Swanton, MD; Lois M. Soncrant (Emery), Chesterfield Township, MI; two sisters, Grace Reckart, Oakland; Peggy Whittaker, Charleston, WV; seven grandchildren, Troy Lundquist (Janet); Toby Miller (Lisa); Leah Miller-Bulhack (Tom); Bryanne Miller; Clint Guyton; Jesse Soncrant; Donald J. Teagarden; great grandchildren, Matt, Carolyne, and Davin Lundquist, Ryan Miller and several other great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland, on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be conducted at the Oak Park Church of the Brethren, 110 Church Lane, Oakland, MD, 21550 on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Carl Fike officiating. Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland, MD.
