Floyd E. Petersheim, 91, of Oakland, MD, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at his home.
Born August 22, 1928, in Oakland, he was the son of the late Daniel J. and Katie D. (Swartzentruber) Petersheim. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary D. (Miller) Petersheim; one infant daughter, Katie Petersheim; three brothers, Harvey, Allen and Henry Petersheim; step-mother, Annie (Beachy) Petersheim.
In his youth, he was baptized upon his confession of his faith in Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Gortner Amish Church. Floyd worked as a self-employed carpenter.
He is survived by four daughters, Susie Beachy and husband, Simon, TN; Linda Beachy and husband, Lewis, MD; Elma Swartzentruber and husband, Daniel, MD; Edna Burns and husband, William H., VA; one brother, Fred Petersheim, MD; two sisters, Matilda Kauffman, MD; Barbara Yoder, OH; 20 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Gortner Amish Church, 3271 Mason School Rd., Oakland, MD, 21550, on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be conducted at Gortner Amish Church on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., with Bishop Alvin Beachy and Minister Lloyd Petersheim officiating. Interment will be in the Slaubaugh Cemetery. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD, is in charge of his arrangements.
