Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Miller, 87, of Oakland, MD, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Oakland.

Born February 6, 1932, in the City of Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William George, Sr., and Mary Catherine (Hester) Ryan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul William Miller, Sr.; two brothers, Jack Ryan and William G. Ryan, Jr.; one sister, Catherine Sheldon.

Elizabeth was a homemaker. She went to Seton High School in Baltimore, MD, and worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles there. Elizabeth was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, and enjoyed volunteering at the church, House of Hope, and her children’s school where she was the den mother. She owned Inglenook Gift Shop in the Thayerville area at Deep Creek Lake, MD. Elizabeth made friends everywhere and could talk to anyone.

She is survived by three sons, Paul W. Miller, Oakland; Stephen J. Miller and wife, Rhonda (Barklay), McHenry, MD; Lawrence G. Miller and wife, Melissa, Charlotte Hall, MD; one daughter, Jane E. (Miller) Pressley and husband, Keith, Red Lion, PA; eight grandchildren, Jean, Julia, Christina, Richard, David, Jonathan, Ryan and Walter; seven great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD, 21550, on Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 208 South Fourth St., Oakland, on Monday, November 11, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Tom Gills officiating. Interment will be at Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
