Audrey Frances (Shaffer) Frazee

October 28, 1931 ~ October 10, 2019 (age 87)

Audrey Frances (Shaffer) Frazee, Friendsville, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, where she had resided since 2015. She was 87 years old.

Born October 28, 1931, in Hazelton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Edward Shaffer and Ruth (Humberson) Shaffer Franks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ray Frazee, with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2008; and her granddaughter, Cynthia Jo Thomas.  She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Shaffer and Sarah Shaffer Dyer; and one brother, Edward Shaffer.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra (Jim) Glotfelty, McHenry, and Nancy (David) Thomas, Accident; three sisters, Leota (Roy) Spaw, Mentor, OH, Marlene Jean Bugaj, Garfield Heights, OH and Linda Irons, Rockville; one special brother-in-law, Lawrence "Ben" Frazee, Frostburg; two grandchildren, Tracey (Cory) McGee, Grantsville, and Matthew Thomas, Lutherville; two great-grandchildren, Tim (Emily) Miller and Ryan (Brittany) Miller; and three great-great-grandchildren, Cole Miller, Clark Miller and Annie Grace Miller.  She is also survived by special sisters-in-law, Mary Frazee, Janice Frazee and Thelma Frazee Emory, and special brother-law, Lawrence “Ben” Frazee; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Frazee was a homemaker and an avid gardener. Her gift was hospitality. She seemed to sense the arrival of visitors and always had a pot of coffee brewing by the time they made it to the door.  With coffee came baked goods.  Her nieces and nephews knew to let her know when they were stopping by, so they would have their favorites – either apple dumplings or whoopie pies.  She preferred the blossoms on her tomato, cucumber and zucchini plants to any other flowers.  She attended Friendsville United Methodist Church and was a faithful volunteer with the Women’s Group.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 913 Second Ave., Friendsville on Sunday, October 13, 2019, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Sand Spring Church of God on Monday, October 14, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dana Umbel officiating. Interment will be at Blooming Rose Cemetery.
