Albert Wessel ReceveurDecember 21, 1933 ~ October 8, 2017 (age 83)
Receveur, Albert W., age 83, went to his final rest on October 8, 2017, at his home in LaVale, MD.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Receveur, his daughter, Cary J. Schadle, Atlantic Highlands, NJ and his granddaughter, Anna Accoo and husband, Darnell.
Originally from Louisville, KY, Al’s family moved to Washington, DC, when he was a teenager. Al was one of eight children and is survived by his sisters, Betty Lukacs, San Jose, CA; Lillian Bradley, Myrtle Beach, SC; Judith Robertson, LaVale; Sharon Reilly, Richmond VA; and Mary Ruddell, LaVale; and his brother, John Receveur, Stumpy Point, NC. Al will also be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law, Nancy Motter and husband, Lew, Fairfax, VA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, their spouses and children.
Al was a firm believer in God, Country and Family. He was proud to have served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, DC, after a 34 year career. Al was an inspired electrician who excelled at his craft. He moved to Garrett County, MD, in his retirement, where he greatly enjoyed doing electrical work, particularly in service to his family, friends and church. Al was a 21 year member of the Mountaintop Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was a deeply spiritual man who believed strongly in helping others and working with youth. Al eventually downsized to a home in LaVale where he lived with his wife for the last seven years. His last years were spent as a member of the Frostburg Seventh Day Adventist Church.
A memorial service will be held at the Frostburg Seventh Day Adventist Church, 82 W. College Ave., Frostburg, MD 21532, at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2017.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Frostburg Seventh Day Adventist Church or WMHS Hospice, 1050 W. Industrial Blvd., Cumberland, MD 21502. Inurnment will be at the George Washington Cemetery, Adelphi, MD at a later date.
The family is grateful to WMHS Hospice personnel, especially Lacey, Kari and Jeanie, for all the care and compassion shown Al over the months of his illness. A special thanks is given to Pattie, a Hospice volunteer.
