Obituary

Cecil Edward Kelley, 83, of Friendsville, MD, died Monday, March 13, 2017, at his residence.

Born April 27, 1933, in Grantsville, MD, he was the son of the late Harper and Mary (Miller) Kelley. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Thelma Grace (Schroyer) Kelley, one sister, Patricia Otto and one brother-in-law, Robert Schroyer.

Mr. Kelley worked for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co., retiring after 37 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean Conflict of 1953. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 22, Towson, MD, Woodman of the World, Chapter 45, Friendsville, the Mt. Moriah Lodge #116, A.F. & A.M., Towson and the Casselman Valley Sportsman Club, Grantsville.

Cecil had a love for flying and was a private pilot enjoying his Stenson Voyager aircraft. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and sharing stories with family and friends.

He is survived by two sons, Edward Kelley and wife, Bonnie, Friendsville; Steven Kelly, Falton, PA; two daughters, Pamela Sue Bleakley and friend, Dale Brightwell, Cockeysville, MD; Zelma Ann Wilson and husband, Peter, Rosedale, MD; one brother, Bill Kelley, Grantsville; one sister, Margie Hitchins, Frostburg, MD; two sisters-in-law, Vida Sullivan and husband, James, Seaford, DE; Mary Schroyer, Grantsville; seven grandchildren, Christina Muravsky and husband, Shane; Carrie Stonebreaker and husband, Nate; John “Joey” Atwell, Jr. and wife, Monica; Tiffany Morton and friend, Rob Fish; Danny Morton; Brett Kelley and Britany Kelley; three great-grandchildren, Emily Porter, Eddie Passman and Darwin Morton and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave., Friendsville on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Oakland Lodge #192, A.F. & A.M, will hold a Masonic memorial service, Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Paula Thomas officiating. Interment will be in the Blooming Rose Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Post 10077, Oakland.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Friendsville Veteran’s Memorial Fund.
